I worked with Dave for over 12 years and had a lot of similar tastes in music. I only bumped into him only last week in Tesco and we chatted for about 20 minutes, about this and that and how things were, y'know, the usual. I told him I was waiting for an op and he already knew I was going through a rough patch. The last thing he said to me was, "good luck, hope everything goes well." I said, "thank you" and went about my shop not knowing that that was the last time we'd meet. So Thank You again Dave, I know the last 4 years have been tough for you also. Thank You for the last words you said to me, I will draw some strength from that as those words seem more profound now. "You can shed tears that he is gone Or you can smile because he has lived You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see him Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember him and only that he is gone Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
