I used to know Dave at work. Although we never actually worked together, we shared a love of music. I got to know him after leaving work late one night. I recognised some old 70s krautronica coming out of the front office and went to investigate. There was Dave listening to Tangerine Dream. That was the start of our regular musical discussions, swaps and meetings at gigs. I knew him as a quietly spoken man with a catholic taste in music who introduced me to things I'd never have listened to. After I left Bristol, we kept in touch occasionally via email. We'd mailed each other only a couple of weeks ago about music to check out, and gigs, which only served to make the news more shocking. He had a spirit younger than his years and I was truly saddened to hear he was gone. I'll be thinking about his family next week. --R
